Air travel to be more expensive

NEW DELHI, May 2: With terms of air power turbine combustible (ATF) up by over nine per cent, air traveling is all set to go more than expensive by at least 10 per cent. While some air hoses have got already announced tramp in their fares, others are also likely to denote their determination soon. The greatest private airline, Jet Airways, have decided to increase the basic menu of economic system and concern social class tickets by about 10 per cent from Saturday. Jet Airways and SpiceJet would increase surcharge by Rs 150 on short-haul paths and Rs 350 on long-haul routes. While Jet will do the tramp effectual from 3 May, SpiceJet will begin charging higher menu from 2 May, industry beginnings said. A senior air hose functionary said that the industry had no option but to tramp menus as the cost of air power combustible in New Old Delhi had increased to Rs 58,387.92 per 1,000 liters from Rs 53,309.30 which is a tramp of Rs 5,078. The terms of ATF in Mumbai have been hiked by Rs 5,276 per kilogram liter to 60,467.58 per kilogram litre. Before this, all major air hoses went for a menu tramp in April. Such frequent tramps have got hit riders difficult and the figure of riders travelling by air have not grown as per the outlooks of the industry. In the last one-fourth of the fiscal twelvemonth 2007-08, the figure of domestic air riders grew just by 11.12 per cent over the corresponding time period of the former fiscal year.
